Library Programs - May/June 2022
May & June at the Library!
We needed to take some time in May to get ready for our big Summer Reading Adventure, so we didn't have much on the calendar this month. However, take a look at what we have coming up!
Note: The Library will be closed Monday, May 30th for Memorial Day.
Storytimes with Mrs. Susan
Storytimes will be held each Thursday and will include activities for our preschoolers, as well as board books, puzzles, and puppets for all ages (babies-5 years old).
Registration is not required, however it is recommended in case we would need to contact participants of any changes.
Storytimes are set for 11:30 am on Thursdays and take place prior to opening to the public in order to keep the health and well-being of all our youngest readers in mind.

High School Art Exhibit
The Library will be hosting an art exhibit May 21st through June 4th. The art contest honoring former high school teacher, Ray W. Forquer, is being organized by the high school art teacher and Mr. Forquer's family. The library will be housing the exhibit during the dates listed, with a reception for all participants to be held on May 24th at 5:00 pm. Any students still interested in participating in this art contest should contact Mr. Fulton at the high school.
Everyone is welcome to stop by the library to enjoy the wonderful talents of our local youth!
New Program - Memorable Mondays!
Beginning June 6, 2022
This program will target our older population of patrons. If you are looking for a way to look back and reminisce, we have the activities for you. If you are a caregiver of someone who likes to remember simpler times, we have the activities for you. If you would like to meet up with an old friend and have discussions starters for things to look back on fondly, we have activities for you.
Our "Memorable Mondays" will use kits from Bi-Folkal. Kits include DVDs of photos and short stories, CDs for sing along songs and stories, Photographs, and Activity Folders. Library staff will be on hand to assist with the viewing of DVDs and playing CDs. The rest of the activities you get to do at your own pace. We will offer two different choices each month throughout the summer. Our June selections are "Remembering Summertime" and "Remembering Music." Kits will be set up each Monday from 12 noon - 7:00 pm.
For more information, please talk with a staff member or call us at 724-745-4300.
We hope you will mark you calendar and make your summer Mondays "Memorable Mondays" with us!

Teen Programs/Volunteer Opportunities
TEENS (13-17) ONLY:
Our teen volunteers have been hard at work helping staff prepare for programs, and helping prepare the Local History Collection with Leslie. We have teens who have already reached their required school hours for the year, yet they continue to come in to give us their time and talents at the library. We have some wonderful young adults in the Chartiers-Houston Community!
Teens who need legal community service hours are also welcome to contact the library. Please speak with Mrs. Susan about the paperwork required to sign up for volunteer time.
If you know of a teen who would like to join our group of volunteers and Teen Advisory Group, have them get in touch with Mrs. Susan at (724) 745-4300 or email chcommunitylibrary@gmail.com.
